The Ryokan Collection Welcomes a New Member -
Fufu Kawaguchiko, a Forest Lodge Epitomizing
Modern Japanese Luxury

January 18th 2019, Tokyo Japan
The Ryokan Collection is delighted to welcome a new member to its group of fine ryokan - Fufu Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi. With a prime location at the foot of Mt. Fuji, this elegant new property marries the impeccable personalized service of a Japanese ryokan with the homey feel of a forest lodge, providing guests with a perfect base to explore the region's natural beauty and savor a feast of local produce and wine
Experiences
Exclusive Mt. Fuji Views
Every room at Fufu Kawaguchiko comes with a private vista of Mt. Fuji, rising beyond the mirror of Lake Kawaguchiko. Particularly in winter, when the dry air draws away the clouds and haziness that the bashful mountain loves to hide behind and you can enjoy the crystal-clear view from the comfort of your private outdoor hot spring or wrapped in a pillowy robe next to the dancing flame of bioethanol hearth, it is an exquisite pleasure to have Japan's most famous attraction all to yourself.
Blurring Indoors and Out
The 32 attractively furnished suites all feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors that fully retract to transform the entire room into an open-air veranda lined by aromatic herbs. A design ethos rooted in all-natural materials, including volcanic stone, wood from the trees cleared for the building and living greenery, reinforces the seamless communion with the environment. Rainfall showers, organic amenities in the ryokan's original Green Forest scent, and tactile seasonal throws placed just where you need them complete the sensation of being enveloped in a luxurious natural world.
The New Kaiseki
Chef Hoshino prepares modern kaiseki meals that balance tradition and creativity to offer guests a new experience of Japanese culture. Served on a range of beautiful ceramics and lacquerware representing the country's most famous craft-producing regions, the food allows seasonal local produce to shine by casting more far-flung delicacies in supporting roles. The result is a harmony of flavors and textures that feels at once familiar and excitingly new, pleasing to novices and washoku devotees alike. Wine pairings that span from Champagne's best houses to the vineyards next door producing Fufu's original wines add another level of enjoyment to an already stellar production.
